The Sony BRAVIA 46" KDL-46Z5100 features a thin cabinet depth that transports an amazing list of attributes that are enclosed in a sleek design (3-3/8" deep). This TV is made for your home and is large enough for any viewer. The TV measures 46" diagonally from corner to corner. The prices on this TV are slowly dropping. After Christmas, the prices on TVs tend to drop some with the new models about to move to stores. The TV is presented in Full HD 1080p and uses Motionflow 240Hz refresh rate technology to display the max in motion and clarity. Sony's Motionflow 240Hz technology delivers natural crisp motion during high-action sequences (sports, video games, action movies, etc.). The KDL-46Z5100 has internet capabilities to allow for internet video use. With this feature you can easily connect with the internet and stream movies directly to your TV and listen to online music. You can simply use your broadband connection at home and the Bravia HDTV remote control to gain access to video, music, and lots of online content such as Amazon Video On Demand, YouTube, Sports Illustrated, and Epicurious.com. The Sony KDL-46Z5100 allows you to personalize your viewing by adding widgets that show up to date news, weather, sports, etc. to your screen. The Sony KDL-46Z5100 features 7 HD inputs, has 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Due to the 16:9 Full HD 1080p resolution (1920x1080), any video signal that is high definition can be viewed. Therefore, you can watch Blu-ray at its best. The Sony KDL-46Z5100 uses Progressive CineMotion reverse 3:2 pulldown which enables a more accurate reproduction of material that is film-based. Another feature that this TV has is the use of 24p True Cinema which allows you to watch movies in a natural cinematic motion. This is the same way that movies are viewed at the cinema.

The TV even has a USB port for added product use. You can connect a digital camera or even a portable music player to your TV so that you can view photos or listen to music. There is even a PC video input which allows you to connect to your computer so that images can be viewed in high-resolution. This TV is amazing! It has so many features! What can it not do?

A few other features that are worth mentioning here are the Advanced Contrast Enhancer which used real-time image processing. This adjusts the contrast ratio so that it enables darker black colors and improved shadows. Another great feature is the S-Master digital amplifier. This feature prevents volume fluctuations during commercials. This feature would be great to use during night viewing.

I have checked out some customer reviews of this TV before. All of the reviews tend to range at a very high level. I didn't come across too many negative reviews. One such negative review was that the TV only has one HDMI jack on the back of the TV and the rest are on the side of the TV. Not bad for a negative review. Most of the reviews rave about the quality of the picture, the quality of sports programs on the TV, the ease of use, the price, and the ease of use with additional equipment such as other Sony products. This is a great TV! Online it can be purchased brand new or even used at a much reduced price. Whichever route you take, this is an awesome TV!

The Sony Bravia KDL40W5500 TV - Our View Of It

The Sony Bravia KDL40W5500 TV - Our View Of It by Andrew Emerson
in Technology (submitted 2010-01-15)

Getting a good look at the Sony KDL40W5500 TV reveals that one is looking at a television that was very highly anticipated just last spring (2009). This is for good reason, as the television discussed here and offered by one of the more highly-regarded makers of consumer electronics today presents everything in a capable and highly functional manner that is befitting a member of the Bravia line of TVs.

There are a number of features that are offered on this particular model to help it to improve on its predecessor television, the W4500 series. This includes the fact that it offers Sony's proprietary Applicast feature as well as one additional HDMI port, for a total of four, and Sony-proprietary Bravia Engine 3 (BE3) technology.

When you combine all three of the above features together you're now looking at a 40 inch LCD TV of high capabilities and quality that comes in at a relatively attractive price of about 700 British pounds from one particular online retailer, though others are offering the TV for as much as 900 British pounds. One needs to search carefully, then, for the best price.

Like just about every other Sony Bravia of recent vintage, the design of the television itself makes use of what the company refers to as "Draw the Line" elements. In this particular model, there is a very nice highly polished black casing that features a subtle horizontal bar that separates the speaker grille area from the bezel that surrounds the display screen. In all, it gives a touch of style and class to an already-attractive LCD TV.

There is also a separate stand provided with this Sony that is able to be swiveled, meaning that the television can be placed just about anywhere and only the screen needs to be moved in order to get the best viewing area. For those who tire of moving their televisions about for the benefit of others sitting in a room, this can come in quite handy and is far more popular than most might think.

When it comes to the technology suite offered in this Sony, there are those four total HDMI ports as well as two USB 2.0 ports and a LAN port to go with separate digital and analog audio outs. Combined together, this means that the television will be extremely easy to interface with most components as well as a personal computer network to help the display video files and JPEG files.

When it comes to picture display, the Sony is known for the quality of its blacks, which are very rich and help to give the display truly deep presentations. It also uses a 100 MHz Motionflow processor to help greatly reduce motion blur with almost no evidence of picture artifact after the action on the screen has moved. This is also greatly appreciated by most videophiles.

When taken altogether, it's easy to see why the Sony KDL40W5500 was so eagerly awaited back in the spring of 2009. It offers a number of upgrades and improvements to its features over its predecessor and is also relatively low-priced when one considers a 40 inch liquid crystal display television from Sony. When one considers that it's a Bravia, what is easily convinced that it should be the TV to have.
